SSDS to hold third annual Sammelan at Jammu today

JAMMU, Nov 23: Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha, (SSDS) Geeta Bhawan Parade is organising third annual Sammelan here, tomorrow in which all the 23 district and tehsil level Sabhas are participating.

This was stated by SSDS president Bodh Raj Sharma while talking to reporters here, today. He said various issues concerning to religious matters of Hindus and country will come up for discussion during the Sammelan which will be presided over by Brig (retd) Suchet Singh, RSS Sangchalak J&K Prant while Mahant Rameshwar Dass Ji of Purani Mandi will be the chief guest on the occasion and Swami Dinesh Bharti Ji will be the guest of honour.
He said the SSDS from Baramulla, Shopian, Anantnag in Kashmir Valley, Surankote and Mendhar in Poonch as well as Kathua and Samba are first time participants in the Sammelan. The problems being faced by the yatris during Machail and Kounser Nag, Reasi yatra will be discussed in detail. Sharma said that the road and pathway needs to be constructed for Reasi to Kounsernag for yatris. Besides, toilets, rest rooms and other facilities should be provided to these yatris.
In addition to it the encroachment of religious places at various places in which the Government machinery is also involved will be discussed. In this regard he cited the example of kali Mandir Dundhak , Surankote in Poonch district where land grabbers have encroached 22 kanals and four marlas of land of Kali mandir.
He said the tehsildar Mendhar had given directives to cancel the Intiqals of land encroachers and handing over of the land to Temple Dundhak in the year 1973. The orders were upheld by ACR Poonch and Financial Commissioner, Jammu. Later the Double Bench of J&K High Court in 1990 also upheld the decision but the Temple Committee has not been given the possession of the land till date which is matter of concern for entire Hindu community in the J&K, he added.
He said the encroachers are in possession of the land which belongs to the temple and they are threatening and harassing the Mahant of the temple who is totally scared.
During the Sammelan, the participants will give details of their yearly activities, he added. Prabhat Singh general secretary SSDS Jammu, Bodh Raj Sharma and Jagdish Sharma its vice presidents were also present in the press conference.
