SS, D F take out joint procession against power, water crisis

JAMMU, June 8: Workers of Shiv Sena (SS) and Dogra Front (DF) led by Ashok Gupta president of the two organizations took out a procession from Parade Ground to City Chowk against the increasing power and water crisis in Jammu region.
The protestors raising slogans against the Government marched via Raj Tilak Road, Purani Mandi and Old Hospital road.
The protestors alleged that besides the water crisis the people of Jammu are facing 10 hour power cut in city and 11 hour cut in rural areas due to the callousness and discriminative attitude of the Government towards the Jammu region.
They said the PHE Department is blaming PDD for the water crisis saying due to lack of power supply the Department is unable to maintain the water supply.
Addressing the demonstrators, Ashok Gupta said on the one hand the Government has hiked the electricity and water tariff and on the other it is unable to maintain the supply as per the needs of the people. After the darbar move the problem compounded and people of this region were exposed to worst ever power and water crisis, he added.
He said that maximum revenue is received by PHE and PDD from Jammu and despite that the people of this region have to suffer.
He warned that if immediate steps were not taken to solve the problems faced by the people due to power and water crisis the Shiv Sena and Dogra Front will be forced to intensify agitation.
