SRINAGAR, Nov 25: The strategic Srinagar-Zozila-Leh Road will be thrown open by tomorrow as Border Roads Organization (BRO) has cleared the road with additional deployment of equipments and men power.
CDR 32 BRTF Colonel Mukesh Kumar said that main hindrance in snow clearance operation was due to around 85 stranded vehicles at different locations.
He added that the vehicles were evacuated to safer place by Beacon personals to ensure the speedy clearance of snow in the sector.
“Beacon authority cleared the snow and now it is the district administration to allow the movement of traffic on the stretch from tomorrow”, Colonel Mukesh said.
It is important to mention here that Zozila stretch received around 3 feet of snow. There were also 10 to 15 avalanches triggered on the road for which BRO official had a tough time to clear these avalanches from road side amid chilling winds.
