Srinagar woman gets blood plasma from Bengaluru

Srinagar, Sept 2: In a move that has won hearts, a COVID-19 +ve woman admitted in a hospital in Srinagar received help on Tuesday from a patient being treated in a hospital in Bengaluru.
It took no time for the family to dispatch blood plasma of a recovered Bengaluru patient to Srinagar after it received an SOS from the family of the patient in Srinagar.
The plasma was sent to Srinagar via connecting flights which ultimately landed in Srinagar.
The Bengaluru patient came forward to donate plasma upon hearing that the condition of the woman in Srinagar was worsening. The process of airlifting of the plasma units was coordinated by a team of doctors from HCG Cancer Hospital, Bengaluru.
The hospital management has said that they were able to quickly arrange the plasma with the help of a matching donor who had recovered from COVID recently.
The management reached out to the IndiGo team where Captain Rahul Srivatasava said that he would help in flying the plasma effectively and safely to Srinagar with help of the IndiGo cargo team.
The plasma units were transported on IndiGo CarGo from Bengaluru to Srinagar via connecting flights on Tuesday morning.
It has been learned that the plasma was first shifted from Bengaluru to Delhi on 6E 363 followed by the connecting flight from Delhi to Srinagar 6E 2486.
The plasma was in transit for over eight hours and delivered successfully at the Government hospital in Srinagar on Tuesday.
The hospital management said that job could be carried out successfully only because of the assistance from Bangalore International Airport Limited, the operator of Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport, and IndiGo airlines.
IndiGo has said that the company is always looking for opportunities to contribute to the nation’s fight against COVID-19.
