Srinagar, Dec 16: The cold wave intensified in Kashmir today with the minimum temperatures dropping several notches below the freezing point and Srinagar recorded the coldest night of the season at minus 5.6 degrees Celsius.
A Meteorological Departm-ent official said that the minimum temperatures are likely to drop further in the next three to four days as dry weather with clear night sky is expected during this period.
Srinagar recorded the coldest night of the season at minus 5 .6 degrees Celsius, 1.4 degree Celsius drop since yesterday. At minus 15.6 degrees Celsius, Leh was the coldest in the State.
The minimum temperatures in Kargil, Gulmarg and Pahalgam today were minus 10.8 degrees Celsius, minus 9.5 degrees Celsius, minus 11.5 degrees Celsius and minus 9.3 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The maximum temperatures in Srinagar, Leh, Kargil and Pahalgam were recorded at 9.9 degrees Celsius, 2.7 degrees Celsius, minus 1.8 degrees Celsius and 6.7 degrees Celsius and Gulmarg 2.9 degrees Celsius respectively.
In the Jammu region, the minimum temperatures in Jammu, Katra, Batote, Banihal and Bhaderwah were 5.5 degrees Celsius, 6.4 degrees Celsius, 1.8 degrees Celsius,4.1 degrees Celsius and minus 1.7 degrees Celsius, respectively; the maximum temperatures at these places was recorded at 22.0 degrees Celsius, 19.2 degrees Celsius, 11.6 degrees Celsius, 13.3 degrees Celsius and 9.5 degrees Celsius respectively.
