Srinagar records coldest day at 0.4 deg after fresh snowfall

SRINAGAR: Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, today recorded the coldest day of the winter so far after the maximum temperature witnessed a dip and settled at 0.4 degrees Celsius following fresh snowfall.

It was heavily snowing at the time of filing this report, affecting vehicular and pedestrian movements. A Met Department told UNI this evening that  rain or snow may occur and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 5 degrees and minus 2 degrees respectively in the city during the next 24 hours.

Today was the coldest day of the season so far after the mercury settled at 0.4 degrees, six notches below normal, due to fresh snowfall and icy cold winds, he said adding the earlier lowest during the day in the city was 0.6 degrees recorded on January 6. (AGENCIES)
