Srinagar, May 16: Former Minister for Public Works and MLA Amirakadal Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today stressed on the need for a fast pace infrastructural development in Srinagar city.
Addressing a party convention at Mehjoor Nagar, Bukhari said that there is a dire need to ensure a sustainable infrastructural development across the State especially in Srinagar City that matches the standards of a modern city in the country.
The convention was attended by all ward heads of the Zone Amirakadal including Zonal President Mohammad Ashraf Dar. Senior party leader Abdul Hamid Kosheen was also present on this occasion.
While taking stock of the ongoing works of restoration and up-gradation of infrastructure in Amirakadal constituency, Bukhari said that efforts are on to make this constituency as a model constituency in the State. “There was a huge developmental deficit in this constituency when I took over as MLA but now Amirakadal has witnessed a shift in all sectors including roads, health care, education, power and recreation during the last one year”, he added.
While obtaining a firsthand appraisal on the status of Party’s membership drive in the constituency, Bukhari asked the party cadres to gear up and take measures to reach out to the people and strengthen the party at the grass root level. He said PDP has never been power hungry and always wanted to facilitate peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, various delegations of party workers, vendors and employees today called on Bukhari at his private office. He assured the delegation of vendors that he will take-up the issue of their immediate rehabilitation with the Chief Minister so that they are able to earn a livelihood with dignity.
Bukhari however, sought cooperation of vendors for restoration of public spaces for smooth movement of vehicles, which will ease hardships faced by commuters and pedestrians.
A delegation from Jeelanabad Peerbagh led by Arif Laigaroo called on Bukhari demanding his intervention in various issues of basic amenities. Bukhari assured the delegation the requisite intervention has been made and various developmental projects for the area have already been submitted to various offices.
