JAMMU, June 14: Visiting faculty from one of the prominent IAS institutes of Delhi, Dr Raj Shekhar today started the important Science and Technology component of the General Studies for IAS and KAS aspirants at SR College of Competitions (SRCC), here.
A good number of students turned up to attend the extensive teaching spread over four-hour continued lectures in morning and evening sessions.
Starting today, the classes shall continue for a fortnight touching every aspect of the component.
The opening day lectures touched topics like Advances in Bio Technology, Agriculture Science, Space Technology like PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle) and GSLV (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle), Atomic Energy, Information Technology, Robotic etc.
“It was a class in the form of dialogue and information exchange with special focus on doubt clearing. Students were told how to prepare science in the contest of public service examination. The focus was on applied aspect of science in day to day life,” informed Dr Raj Shekhar.
Dr Raj Shekhar also held interactive session in changing trends in the IAS/KAS aiming at both preliminary and mains examinations.
In the meantime, Director, SRCC, Parveen Kumar Sharma said, “Science and Technology is an important component of compulsory General Studies in the JKPSC and UPSC examination. There was tremendous response from young aspirants to the special classes being organized by the College”.
