JAMMU, Jan 14: Sr Police XI registered emphatic win over Doordarshan XI and entered into the finals of the ongoing 3rd New Year Masters T20 Cricket Cup and will lock horns against Parade Sports Association XI in the summit clash at Parade ground Jammu, here tomorrow.
The tournament in which 6 teams are participating is being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Transport Department, under the supervision of Sunil Kumar Sharma, Minister of State for Sports and Transport.
The participating teams include Media XI, Sr Police XI, Doordarshan XI, Parade Sports Association XI, Cantt Cricket XI and Singh Akhnoor XI.
Gulzar Singh Slathia, retired IGP was the chief guest on the occasion, who was accompanied by SSPs RK Bhat and Ramesh Kotwal, besides Coordinator of the event, Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer and was introduced with the participating teams.
While speaking he appreciated the Transport Department for conducting the event during the Traffic Week.
Earlier, Senior Police XI defeated Doordarshan Cricket XI by 9 wickets.
Batting first, Doordarshan Cricket XI scored a modest total of 110 runs in the stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. Vikas Raina (Vicky), who scored brilliant 94 on the other day, contributed 38 runs to the total today, while Dutta and Vikas chipped in with 26 and 23 runs respectively. For Senior Police XI, left-arm spinners Shamsher Singh Manhas and Kuldeep Kumar took 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
Sr Police XI, in reply achieved the target in 15.1 overs by losing 1 wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Rajesh Gill top scored with unbeaten 74 runs, while Anand Tripathi contributed 20 runs to the winning cause. Girdari was the lone wicket taker for Doordarshan XI. Rajesh Gill was adjudged as man of the match for his magnificent knock.
The match was officiated by Sanjay, Sandeep Manchanda and Vinod Kandyara.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Senior Police XI will face Parade Sports Association in title clash at 9.30 am.
