Sir,
Swine flu has entered our State also. There are more than 70 case who have tested positive for it. Besides, some people have lost their like as well. Many tourists visit our State. May be they have been infected with it. Question arises : are we prepared to fight this epidemic in our State although public at large is made aware by media about the basic symptoms and precautionary measures to be adopted by the public. Side by side are our hospitals, dispensaries, medical shops have sufficient stock of vaccines and medicine. Do our main hospitals in Jammu and Srinagar have modern laboratories for conducting of HINI tests and what is worrisome whether people living in far flung areas of State have proper medication available in those areas? Although Union Health Minister has assured all possible help and necessary medi-care throughout the country but as per news coming from national capital there is shortage of swine flu medicines and private medical shops are black marketing and selling oseltamivir(TAMI flu) tablets at the rate of Rs. 400 per pill and WHO specified N95 masks at the rate of Rs. 350. It is criminal, the medicines are sold 5 times their actual cost.
There should be a check on hoarding and black marketing of medicines so that public at large does not suffer any more.
Yours etc…
