JAMMU : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said he is not keen to watch the final of Indian Premier League in view of recent spot fixing.
“Not as a politician but as a cricket lover, I am not interested in watching the IPL final,” Mr Abdullah told reporters on the sidelines of a public rally at R S Pura on the outskirts this afternoon.
The Chief Minister said scams unearthed day by day in cricket left dent on its lovers and fans of various cricketers besides the sportsperson. If IPL have to survive, it need to be cleaned down.”
Asked about Lalit Modi’s proposal of appointing Farooq Abdullah, who is a Union Minister and the president of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association asthe BCCI Chief, Mr Abdullah said.
“I am not in favour of that. I will counsel my father not to think beyond politics and leave this post (BCCI President) for a sportsman only.”
The Chief Minister refused to comment on BCCI Chief N Srinivasan whether he should stay or not on the post. (AGENCIES)
