DODA, Aug 7: A Special Police Officer (SPO) has allegedly shot himself to death at his place of deployment.
As per official sources, the SPO namely Gurmesh Singh, son of Tirath Ram, a resident of Kakota, Gandoh, district Doda, deployed at Sessions Court for guard duty, shot himself with his service rifle and died on the spot.
After conducting post-mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
However, inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC have been initiated by Doda Police to ascertain the cause behind taking this extreme step.
