MENDHAR, Dec 2: An SPO was murdered while his father stabbed by some members of the rival group at Bhera village near Mendhar last night.
A police spokesman said that SPO Mohd Akram deployed with NC candidate from Mendhar and vice chairman Legislative Council Javed Rana at Mendhar had gone to his home last evening. Their neighbourer Ghulam Nabi, son of Hassan Mohd came with tractor trolley at around 9 pm carrying dry woods through a field. Akram’s father Abdul Majid objected to it and asked him not to drive tractor through their fields as their crop was being damaged.
On this they had some heated arguments over the issue. Upon this family members of Ghulam Nabi came with sharp edged weapons and attacked both father and son with axes. SPO Akram and his father Abdul Majid received serious injuries and were rushed to SDH Mendhar where doctors provided first aid and then shifted them to GMC Hospital Jammu. However, Mohd Akram succumbed to injuries on the way near Nowshera. His body was brought back to Mendhar hospital for postmortem. Condition of father is also said to be serious at District hospital, Rajouri.
The police party led by SDPO Surinder Choudhary and SHO rushed to the site and arrested ten persons in this connection. Police said that five main accused have been identified and a case FIR No. 86/2014 U/S 302/307/323/ 147/148 RPC has been registered against them.
