UDHAMPUR, Mar 29: In a fratricidal incident, a Police constable was killed after allegedly fired upon by a fellow colleague (SPO) at Jakhani Naka, here yesterday.
Reports said that SPO Manohar Lal fired with his Ak-47 rifle in Sgct Constable Kaka Ram (46), son of Badri Nath, resident of village Kaghot in Ramnagar Tehsil, posted at Jakhani Naka on Saturday late night.
The injured cop was rushed to District hospital from where he was shifted to Army Hospital Udhampur. Despite hectic efforts by the doctors, the victim succumbed to his bullet injury around 0230 hours of Sunday.
A Police officer said that there was some altercation between the two, which led to the incident. A case has been registered in this connection and SPO Manohar Lal was arrested.
Meanwhile, in two separate cases, a young man was found hanging from a tree near his house at Upper Hartiyan while a Jawan of 10- Dogra was found dead at his unit in Rehambal area.
Kuldeep Singh (30), son of Romesh Singh of Upper Hartiyan (Rehambal), was found hanging from a tree near his house. The body was spotted by some locals, who informed the Police.
L/Nk of 10 -Dogra, Paritosh Rana (29), son of Jagdish Chand of District Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, was found lying unconscious at his unit. He was rushed to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared him as brought dead. Rehambal police registered the case and further investigation is going on.
