JAMMU, Mar 29: Sahitya Akademi New Delhi, in continuation to its ‘Webline Literature Series’ organized a programme through virtual mode on contribution of O P Sharma ‘Sarthi’ to Dogri Literature.
The programme was divided in two sessions; inaugural session and paper reading session. Inaugural session was chaired by renowned literary figure, founder and former HoD Dogri, Jammu University, Prof Champa Sharma whereas the paper reading session was chaired by well known Dogri writer and Sahitya Akademi awardee, Inderjeet Kesar.
In the inaugural session Dr N Suresh Babu, Deputy Secretary (Publication) Sahitya Akademi New Delhi presented welcome address while introductory remarks were given by Darshan Darshi, convener Dogri Advisory Board Sahitya Akademi New Delhi.
Key note on the life and work of multi dimensional personality Dr O P Sharma ‘Sarthi’ was presented by Anirudh Kapil, a well known scholar and writer of Dogri and Hindi Languages.
In her presidential address, Prof Champa Sharma said that Dr ‘Sarthi’ was trend setter in the Dogri language. It is the need of the hour that his whole work be explored through research works by the scholars and the researchers.
In the paper reading session, three papers were read by Roshan Bral, Parveen Sharma and Suraj Rattan on poetry, short stories and fiction writing of Dr O P Sharma ‘Sarthi’ respectively.
In his presidential remarks, Mr Kesar said that Dogri writers need to concentrate more on the writings of the ‘Sarthi ji’. At the end, Dr N Suresh Babu presented a formal vote of thanks.
