JAMMU, Nov 18: S. K. Bhagat, Special Director General CRPF, J&K Zone called on Governor N N Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Bhagat briefed the Governor about the obtaining security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The Governor discussed with Bhagat certain issues relating to internal security management in the background of certain recent incidents in the Valley.
Dr. Shah Faesal, Director School Education, (Kashmir) also called on Governor.
Dr. Faesal briefed the Governor about the major issues on the educational front and the various steps underway to upgrade teaching standards.
The Governor stressed the crucial importance of sound school education being imparted to boys and girls and due attention being also paid to the inculcation of ethical values and discipline among the youth of the State.
Meanwhile, Governor has spoken personally to Northern Army Commander, Lt Gen D. S. Hooda and GOC 15 Corps, Lt Gen S.K. Dua, to convey his grief over the loss of Colonel Santosh Mahadik, CO, 41 RR, a decorated Special Forces officer, who was killed in an encounter with militants in Kupwara district.
The Governor has conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to gallant officer’s wife and family.
