SRINAGAR, July 12: Spice Jet, one of the leading airlines of the country, today started the operation of direct flight between Amritsar and Srinagar. The airlines also announced the launch of new flights connecting the cities of Amritsar, Chandigarh and Srinagar to Delhi.
A spokesman of the airline said that the airline is launching daily direct flights between Amritsar and Delhi and hopes to fill the gap of better air connectivity of holy city with national capital. The spokesman said that the airline today launched direct flights to Srinagar. Besides, the company also started its services to the cities of Chandigarh and Indore.
Navjot Singh Sidhu, Member of Parliament and Chairman of Advisory Committee Amritsar, inaugurated the launching service. Suneel Dutt, Airport Director of Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport, Amritsar, was the guest of honour of launch function, the spokesman said.
“Amritsar is an important destination for us. A lot of pilgrims visit the holy city daily. We hope people would prefer our affordable services on these routes. With the launch of these new flights, we are kicking-off our major expansion plan in North India,” the spokesman while quoting Spice Jet Chief Executive Officer Neil Mills said.
He said airline has embarked on fast expansion plan and in its effort to reach more hinterland of northern part Spice Jet is connecting more Tier II and Tier III cities on its network. He said in its first phase of North India expansion, the airline will connect to the cities of Amritsar, Dehradun, Chandigarh, Indore and Srinagar to Delhi among the existing cities along with more cities to be added on its network in coming days.
