SPF demands induction of Sikh Member in J&K PSC

JAMMU, June 13: A special meeting of Sikh Progressive Front was convened by S Balvinder Singh, President SPF, and attended by other prominent members of the Front to discuss the important issues of the Sikh community, especially demand for induction of Member from Sikh Community in the J&K Public Service Commission of JKUT.
The meet observed that at present and also in the past for many years, there has been no representation from the Sikh community in the JKPSC which could take care of the Sikh youths in the employment generated by the UT Administration and recruited through PSC.
Talking to media persons, SPF President said that this issue was raised by it with the UT Administration and subsequently with the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and they were assured that as and when there will be any post of member vacated by any retiring member, representative from the Sikh community would be inducted as a member in the JKPSC. SPF members hoped that the assurances given by the LG will be fulfilled and a suitable Sikh candidate shall be inducted as member in the JKPSC.
Other issues taken up during the meeting included amendment of SRO-425 and make provision for inclusion of Non migrant Sikh youths of valley in the Special Employment Package which is presently limited to non migrant Kashmiri Pandits only, installation of the statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at Kunjwani Chowk, implementation of Anand Marriage Act and framing its rules & regulation in JKUT, implementation of Minority Commission Act in JKUT, inclusion of Punjabi language in the JKUT Official Language Bill, due compensation to the NOK’s of 14 Sikhs killed in anti Sikh riots of 1989 in Jammu.
The meeting was attended by S Manjit Singh, Surinder Singh Wazir, Janak Singh, Rajinder Singh, Sharanjit Singh, Iqbal Singh, Varinder Pal Singh, Jasvinder Singh, Tejinder Singh, Manmohan Singh, Amitpal Singh, Dilbag Singh and others.
