Special team to J&K to protect Kannadigas stranded in flood

BANGALORE :  Karnataka government will depute a special team to look into the safe return of people from the flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister K Siddaramaiah said today.
Assuring all help from his government, the Chief Minister said Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee is already in contact with his counterpart in Srinagar and an IAS officer will be sent to ensure protection of the tourist from the state stranded in Jammu and Kashmir.    Speaking to reporters after inspecting work in progress for installation of Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in between the Vidhana Soudha and Vikas Soudha here, he said according to information 12 Kannadigas from the state have been caught and steps will be taken to provide all help for their safe return.
He said he had also instructed to the state’s representative in Delhi to provide all help to Kannadigas.    The state government has opened a special cell and has asked relatives, family members and others to give detailed information about the people who have gone to Jammu and  Kashmir.
