Special summary revision of Photo-Electoral Rolls from Sept 1

SRINAGAR, Aug 31: The Election Commission of India has ordered the process of special summary revision of Photo Electoral Rolls in all Parliamentary and Assembly Constituencies in the State with reference to 01-01-2019 as the qualifying date.
According to a statement issued by the Election Office, J&K, the draft Electoral Rolls shall be published on 1st September, 2018 at all the polling stations across the State including at ERO/AERO offices. Detailed public notices inviting claims and objections for revision of these electoral rolls along with the details of Electoral Registration Officers (EROS), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and Booth level officers shall be available on the website of CEO J&K (www.ceojk.nic.in).
According to ECI, publication of Integrated draft Electoral will be on 1st September 2018 (Saturday), period for filing Claims and Objections will be from 1st September 2018 (Saturday) to 31st October, 2018 (Wednesday), disposal of Claims and Objection can be made before 30th November 2018 (Friday), updating database and printing of supplements will be before 3rd January 2019 (Thursday) and Final publication of electoral rolls will be on 4th January 2019 (Friday).
Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (Migrants) in Delhi and Jammu shall receive the Claims and Objections from the Kashmiri Migrants living within their jurisdiction as per the schedule mentioned above.
The Claims and objections regarding additions, deletion, correction & transposition of entries can be made as per the above schedule manually before the election officials as well as electronically by logging on the online portal www.nvsp.in.
Meanwhile, State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has published Electoral Rolls with reference to 01.01.2018 as the qualifying date. These rolls shall be used for the conduct of the forthcoming Municipal Polls.
According to the notification issued by the CEO, the draft Electoral Rolls for the Municipal Corporations/ Councils Committees were published on 4th August, 2018 by Chief Electoral Jammu & Kashmir under the rules governing conduct of Municipal Elections.
Public notices were issued for revision of electoral rolls by filing claims and objections for addition, deletion, correction & transposition, as per the notified schedule. The draft rolls were made available on the website of CEO, J&K (www.ceojk.nic.in) along with the details of Electoral Registration Officers Assistant Electoral Registration Officers/ Polling Stations level Officers.
The period for filling Claims and Objections was initially up to 13th August, 2018, which was later extended to 18th August, 2018. Facility for filing claims electronically was also provided for the first ever time in respect of the Municipal Rolls. Further, Kashmiri Migrants were informed that they may exercise their vote in their respective municipal body through postal ballot. Special camps were held on 5th and 12th August. Disposal of claims/ objections and updation of the rolls has been undertaken thereafter.
