JAMMU, May 22: Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta and Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) & Tribal Affairs Ch. Zulfkar Ali today reviewed the supply position of essential commodities like Rice, Atta, etc in a meeting with officers of CAPD Department.
Minister of State for Education Priya Sethi, MLC Romesh Arora, MLC Charanjeet Singh and MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma were also present in the meeting.
A detailed review of the stocks and supply position of Atta, Rice, Wheat, Sugar, Kerosene Oil and LPG in Jammu province was held during the meeting.
Kavinder Gupta exhorted upon officers of CAPD to ensure availability of essential commodities and their timely distribution to the consmuers. He further asked them to ensure that the rationees get the commodities strictly as per scale and price fixed by the Government.
Clarifying the rumor regarding discontinuation of 10 Kg Atta Bags in Jammu city, Zulfkar assured that supply of 10 Kg Atta Bags will continue. He also directed the Assistant Directors to ensure that the ration depots remain open for extra hours for the convenience of the consumers.
Zulfkar also said that the directions have been given to ensure that the dealers at all depots install and use Digital Weighing Scales and asked concerned officers to take strict action against those dealers who have not installed the same yet. He also directed authorities to ensure every ration dealer and fair price shop display the signboards.
To ensure greater transparency and upkeeping of record, Zulfkar directed for expediting the computerization and digitization process underway in the CAPD.
Mrs. Priya Sethi suggested for installation of suggestion box outside every ration depots so that the consumers can place their suggestions and complaints in the box. Zulfkar while responding directed the Assistant Directors CAPD to ensure that suggestion boxes are installed.
Earlier, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali inspected CAPD godowns at Ware House in order to check the stock position and quality of the food grains available.
The Minister was accompanied by Director CAPD G. S. Chib and other senior officers of CAPD.
