Speaker seeks ATR on implementation of HC recommendations

SRINAGAR, June 4: Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone today called for result-oriented meetings of financial and other Committees of the House, which have definite and vital role in parliamentary democratic system of governance.
Addressing Chairmen of Financial and other Committees of the House, Mr. Lone stressed on close coordination between the administration and Assembly secretariat for smooth flow of information needed for smooth functioning of various House panels.
Deputy Speaker, Sartaj Madni, Chairmen of various Committees included Rafi Ahmed Mir, Abdul Majid Wani, Ch Mohammad Ramzan, Nazir Ahmed Gurezi, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, Abdul Gaffar Sofi and M. Y. Tarigami after holding threadbare discussions over the implementation of the House Committee (HC) reports and the host of other related issues gave their valuable suggestion to improve the functioning of the House panels.
The Speaker directed the officers of Law and GAD to ask their respective organizations to study the reports of Financial and other House Committees and submit the Action Taken Report (ATR) to the Assembly Secretariat within six months. Any negligence in this pursuit will not be tolerated, he added.
Responding to the suggestion put forth by MLA, Kulgam, M. Y. Tarigami with regard to appointment of a women legislator as Chairperson of any House Committee, Mr. Lone said that due consideration will be given to the suggestion in future.
Among others, Secretary Assembly, M. Ramzan, Director General, Accounts and Treasuries, Wali Mohammad Bhat, Director Information, Zaffar Ahmed, Secretary, Law, G. H. Tantray and representative from General Administrative Department and other officers from Assembly Secretariat were present in the meeting.
