Speaker, DyCM, Zulfkar, Sham, others distribute LPG connections among poor under PMUY

JAMMU, Apr 20: Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today distributed LPG connections to BPL, SC, and ST families on the eve of Ujjwala Diwas celebration in Gandhi Nagar constituency and adjoining areas here today.
Speaking  on the occasion, Speaker said that the State Government is fully implementing centre’s Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) initiative with an aim to make every household smokeless.
“The Government has launched the scheme across the State in which thousands of families have been given free LPG connections and by 2022 the same will continue to reach out its target,” he said.
During the celebration, the Speaker distributed numerous LPG connections under the scheme in several areas including Bhour west, Qasim Nagar, Belicharana and Madal Phallian.

With an aim of providing clean cooking fuel to BPL women and reducing the hazards of biomass cooking, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today distributed 150 free LPG connections among the beneficiaries at Phinter in Billawar to mark the celebrations of Ujjwala Divas under Government of India’s massive outreach campaign ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyan’.
Speaking on the occasion, the DyCM  said that respect for women is the core foundation of Ujjwala Yojana and informed that 4000 LPG connections were distributed in Billawar among the beneficiaries and the left-out beneficiaries would soon get new connections after proper verification. He also sensitized the Ujjwala beneficiaries about safety, utility and health benefits of using clean fuels.
Highlighting the importance of such campaigns, Dr Singh said that these campaigns provide an appropriate platform to highlight the work done by the Government for the welfare the poor and weaker sections of the society.
Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs (FCS&CA) & Tribal Affairs, Ch  Zulfkar Ali today urged the people to come forward and avail benefit from welfare schemes launched by state and centre government for improving their socio-economic condition.
Ali said this after launching second phase of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) to cover additional households in the state. “The extended phase of PMUY will now cover the households belonging to scheduled categories, beneficiaries of PMAY – Gramin, Antyodaya Anna Yojana, Forest dwellers and others.
While addressing the gathering on Ujjwala Diwas as part of ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyan’ held here at Kot Bhalwal today, the Minister said the overwhelming response to the PMUY initiative and its efficient implementation and monitoring have led the Government to revise the initial target of releasing 5 crore connections to 8 crore by the year 2020 in the country. On the occasion,  Zulfkar distributed free LPG connections along with documents among eligible women beneficiaries.
Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Chaudhary today distributed 35 new LPG connections among female beneficiaries under PMUY in a function held at Chakroi to celebrate Ujjwala Diwas.
Addressing the gathering after distribution of LPG connections among the eligible beneficiaries, the Minister said that Ujjwala Diwas has been celebrated across the country and about 15000 Panchayats have been organized to promote learning through interaction “Kuch Seekhian, Kuch Sikhayein” under the drive. Terming PMUY a reformative initiative taken by the Union Government to empower the women folk of Below Poverty Line (BPL) families by providing them free of cost LPG connections, the Minister said that smoke-free kitchen in household will help in maintaining healthy environ, besides protect the health of women and reduce the health hazards.
BJP State president & MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma along with prominent citizens, local political and social activists led a LPG gas distribution programme in a gathering thronged by hundreds of people, under Ujjawala Yojna at Chenab Gas Agency, Amphalla.
The programme was conducted  under the battery of events under public awareness campaign for Ambedkar Jayanti, Swacch Bharat Parv, Ujjawala Yojana, Panchayati Raj Diwas, Gram Shakti Abhiyaan, Aayushmaan Bharat Abhiyaan, Kissan Kalyan Karyashala and Aajivika evum Kaushal Vikas Mela, being conducted under “Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan” from April 14 till  May 5.
Jugal Kishore Sharma ( MP), visited various parts of his parliamentary constituency and distributed gas connection to BPL families under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna. He visited village Bajalta in Nagrota constituency and Village Bomal in Akhnoor Constituency and distribute free gas connection to eligible women hailing from BPL families on the occasion of Ujjwala Diwas as part of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan.
He said that Ujjwala Diwas is observed all over the Nation in more than 1500 villages to cover them under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna. Jugal Kishore also appraised the Modi Jankalyan Schemes like Pradhan Mantri Surakha Bhima Yojna,Sukanya Samridhi Yojna,Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojna & Swatch Bharat.
MP Shamsher Singh Manhas distributed free LPG cylinders among poor at in Fallain Mandal in Marh Block, MoS  Education and Culture Priya Sethi at Ranjeetpur in Jammu, MLC Vibodh Gupta at Kakora in Manjakote area of  Rajouri and MLA Ramban Neelam Langeh at Ramban  in presence of  Deputy Commissioner Tariq Hussain Ganai.
