Speaker conducts tour of Gandhi Nagar constituency

JAMMU, July 25: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today inspected the pace of work on various road and sanitation projects in his home constituency Gandhi Nagar.
The Speaker visited   Channi Rama and took stock of the work on the local nallah and adjoining road taken up to upgrade connectivity to various localities of area.
The project aims at devising a permanent solution to the problem of frequent damage to the road during monsoon by construction of an underground covered nallah to make it all weather serviceable road     providing connectivity to various localities of the area.
The project is being executed by Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).
Noting that this stretch gets damaged every year due to flashfloods, the Speaker said the after completion of this project, the residents of the area will have to no longer suffer due to the lack of connectivity.
Earlier, the Speaker also visited village Khawas Khan, of Satwari block- the village situated at the periphery of Gandhi Nagar constituency and launched construction work for a link road to connect the village with Jeevan Nagar – Maraliyan.
Addressing a public meeting in the area, the Speaker said that he consistently strives to ensure that no area remains untouched from development under his charge and that people are able to avail the basic amenities without any hassles.
The Speaker announced that plans have been formulated to solve the problem of electricity shortage in the village with an independent electric transformer and installation of electric poles.
