LEH, Aug 26: Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Rigzin Spalbar directed the Government officials to support the general public in all its sense and work in co-ordination to carry out the Government schemes.
He said this in a function organized by Municipal Committee at Polo ground to distribute dustbins to the Nambardars of various Mohallahs of Municipal Committee Leh under the Solid Waste Management–one of the four components under Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Town (UIDSSMT) scheme.
CEC mentioned about the increasing burden on the Leh city specially in summer season due to influx of tourists and increase in city migration including laboures from outside Ladakh which is in return adversely affecting the cleanliness of Leh city. He therefore said that in this direction, all the four components has been framed keeping in mind next 30 years under this scheme which needs public support for its successful implementation.
Spalbar directed Administrator Municipal Committee Dr. Zahida Bano for inclusion of Bhoti and Urdu languages on the dustbins for the information of the lot and further directed the government officials to support the general Public in all its sense and work in co-ordination in carrying out the Government schemes like this prestigious project.
He also gave directions to the Municipal Committee to bring out a leaflet of Dos and Donts about the importance of keeping environment clean and hygiene where after the most clean and good behavioral mohallah or ward under MC Leh will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh after one-year monitoring by the department.
Speaking on the occasion, Councilor Upper Leh Ven. Lobzang Nyantak, Nominated Councilor Tsering Angmo and President Leh Phu-do Tsewang Norboo also appealed to the general public to support the effort of keeping Leh clean and hygiene for good health of the people in particular and clean society in general.
Earlier, Dr Zahida Bano presented the welcome address and briefed about the usage of the blue dustbin for solid wastes and green dust-bin for kitchen.
Nambardars, presidents, members of various societies under Municipal Committee Leh were also present on the occasion.
