SRINAGAR, Sept 30: Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Prof Saifuddin Soz today raised the issue of unemployment, artisans and craftsmen with Lt Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha.
Prof Soz said during his first meeting with Sinha on last evening, he raised several issues of public interest including financial support to unemployed youth, artisans and craftsmen in Kashmir, who are suffering financial stringency during the COVID-19.
“I pleaded strongly with the Lt Governor that while I appreciate Lt Governor’s initiative to help the construction workers, the UT Government should consider helping the artisans and craftsmen during these difficult days of COVID-19”, he added.
The senior Congress leader said that the Governor assured him that he will consult the experts and do the needful. Prof Soz said among other issues, he pleaded strongly for the exhumation of bodies of three citizens of Rajouri, who got killed due to the misuse of AFSPA at Shopian on July 18, 2020 and also demanded that the bodies should be handed over to the families concerned.
He said that the Lt Governor was eager to solve the difficulties of the people within his control. Soz further said that he also raised the question regarding growing unemployment of youth, especially, educated unemployed youth and the LG was agreed with him that this sector should get more attention.
Prof Soz also raised a question on the J&K Bank which has not been answering questions about norms of employment and the level of Bad Loans accumulated in years.
