Soyabean futures up on global cues

NEW DELHI, Sept 24: Soyabean futures traded higher by Rs 36 to Rs 3,280 per quintal today as participants indulged in enlarging positions amid a firming trend overseas.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, soyabean for delivery in October was trading higher by Rs 36, or 1.11 per cent, to Rs 3,280 per quintal, in an open interest of 53,780 lots.

Also, most-active November contracts gained Rs 35, or 1.08 per cent, to Rs 3,275 per quintal, with an open interest of 77,390 lots.

Marketmen said widening of positions by speculators, supported by firming trend overseas, led to rise in soyabean futures.

Furthermore, pickup in demand at the physical market too influenced trading sentiments, they added. (PTI)
