SRINAGAR, June 29: The Kashmir Valley Petroleum Dealers today informed the general public whose vehicles/two-wheelers are running on petrol fuel for taking preventive measures after the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas has made it mandatory to blend petrol fuel with 10% ethanol.
The dealers said that the public sector Oil companies have started selling Ethanol Blend petrol across the country including J&K.
The public has been advised to take precautions in this regard.
“Check fuel tank of the car/two wheeler for any water content present in the fuel tank and clean the fuel tank by a qualified mechanic. While servicing the vehicle/two wheeler appropriate precautions need to be taken to prevent water from entering into the fuel tank,” read the guidelines
It has also been advised to keep vehicle/two wheelers covered while standing idle for long intervals, especially during the rainy and snowy winter season.
“Check the lid of the fuel tank to ensure its proper placement with the entry point of the fuel tank,” the guidelines said.
The Kashmir Valley Petroleum Dealers said that the ethanol blend fuel is cleaner and has a higher octane number which provides increased power and performance than pure gasoline.
“But they have higher evaporative emissions from fuel tanks and thus, require a periodic check of water content present in the fuel tank,” they said.
