SRINAGAR: UPA chairperson and Congress president Sonia Gandhi is arriving here tomorrow to express condolence on the demise of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) patron and Jammu and Kashmir Chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who breathed his last in AIIMS, New Delhi on January 7.
Party sources said that Ms Gandhi will go to Fairview Gupkar residence of Mr Sayeed, where Chaharum of the late leader will be held after Fateha Khawani at the grave yard of PDP founder at Bijbehara in Anantnag.
She will meet PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and wife of the late leader besides other family members.
Sayeed remained close with the Congress for more than four decades. Before floating the PDP in 1999, Sayeed was heading Congress in the State.
Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad accompanied the mortal remains of Sayeed from New Delhi.
He visited yesterday Bijbehara to offer fateha to the late leader. (AGENCIES)
