POONCH, Jan 6: An army soldier died under mysterious circumstances due to gun fire near the Line of Control (LoC) in Balnoi area of KG Sector in Mendhar Sub Division of Poonch district today.
Official sources identified the deceased soldier as Anil Chouhan from Army’s 8 Garhwal Regiment, hailing from Uttrakhand. While he died of bullet wounds, it was not known whether it was case of suicide or there was any other reason, a police official said.
He said that a case has been registered in this connection and inquest proceedings launched. After completion of legal formalities his body was handed over to the Unit officers, he added.
