POONCH, Feb 25: A soldier was killed in a mysterious firing incident at an Army unit in Degwar area near the Line of Control in Poonch today.
Sources said that there was a clash between the two soldiers inside the unit and in the incident one of the jawans sustained bullet injury on the head. He has been identified as Paunav Mumu (24) of 18 Bihar Regiment.
SHO Poonch, Sanjeev Slathia said that after receiving report about the incident, police party went there and the body was taken into custody. Soldier has received bullet injury on the head. He said the Army claims that jawan committed suicide by using his own service weapon. The spot was examined and body was sent for postmortem. The matter seems to be complicated. A case has been registered and inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC initiated.
