JAMMU, Dec 5: Special Operation Group (SOG) wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) today arrested a narcotic smuggler along with hige quantity of poppy straw (bhukki).
As per police sources, SOG team led by SP Operations Uday Bhaskar Billa on specific inputs, intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AG-7525 near Gandhi Nagar.
During checking, the SOG team recovered 80 kilograms of poppy straw (bhukki) and arrested the driver of the vehicle, who has been identified as Gurparsad Singh alias Tarzan, son of Harcharan Singh, a resident of Upper Gadi Garh.
The vehicle was seized and the accused was handed over to Gandhi Nagar police for further investigation.
A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigations started.
