JAMMU, Jan 27: 70th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor in every nook and corner of the Jammu region by various social and trade organizations.
The occasion was celebrated with great fervor by Raghunath Bazar Businessman Association. Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Chander Mohan Gupta, hoisted the National Flag. Besides members of the association, officers from ITBP and Police Station City were also present.
Chamber of Traders Federation (CTF) held a flag hoisting ceremony at its Gandhi Nagar office to mark the Republic Day celebrations. Neeraj Anand, President, CTF unfurled the National Flag in presence of other members and in his address, recalled the contribution of all those unsung heroes who helped India become a Republic.
The J&K Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organized a function to celebrate the occasion, at ICAI Bhawan, Canal Road, Jammu. Both senior as well as younger members participated in the celebration. Chairman, J&K Branch of ICAI, Ajay Kumar Gupta along with executive committee members unfurled the National Flag.
The Republic Day celebrations were also held in the premises of Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu, where National Flag was unfurled by Jugal Mahajan, veteran Red Crosser, in the presence of other members of the Society, volunteers.
To celebrate the Day, Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha, Parade, Jammu organized a function in the Sabha premises, wherein a large number of people from different walks of life participated. President of the Sabha, Ved Parkash Sharma, hoisted the National Flag.
Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS), Bishnah unit celebrated the occasion with great enthusiasm and patriotic sprit. A large number of people from border belt, besides Sarpanches, Panches, Nambardars and Chowkidars participated in the function. Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister and president DSS, hoisted the Tricolour.
Morning walkers of Green Belt Park Gandhinagar Jammu celebrated Republic Day with full patriotic fervor. The National flag was hoisted by I C Jandial, Chief Engineer (Retd) and Inderjit Singh Sawhny (Industrialist). Earlier girls sang National folk songs in praise of Jawans and freedom fighters. IC Jandial, in his address, threw light on the significance of the Republic Day. He said that the Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949, and came into effect on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, completing the country’s transition towards becoming an independent republic.
Prominent members present on the occasion were K B Jandial, PK Gupta, Raman Matoo (Ex- Minister), Munish Gupta (Journalist), Pawan Jain (Social Activist), KK Bhakri, Billu Nanda, Ganjoo (DSP), VK Phoa, Devanand Kalra, Vijay Verma, Satvir Singh (Industrialist), Khullar, Col Anil Sharma, Dr Surender, Dr Gurung Sharma, Sudharshan Kolhi (Businessman), Raman Gupta (Businessman), Ashok Chopra (Businessman), Suresh Sharma (Businessman) and many others.
The Flag Hoisting ceremony in connection with Republic Day was held in Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha Bhawan, Shalamar Road, Jammu. Ramesh Chander Gupta, president of the Sabha, unfurled the National Flag. Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, JMC, was the chief guest on the occasion. Chief patron of the Sabha, Yash Paul Gupta, Om Parkash, Shiv Partap, Dr Mohan Lal, Arun Gupta, Ravi Rohmetra, Romesh Gupta, Balbir Gupta, Yash Paul, Mukesh Gupta, OP Gupta (general secretary) were also present.
The Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association celebrated the Day with great enthusiasm at Day Care Centre, Exhibition Ground. Patron of the Association, VP Sharma and president, SS Wazir, jointly unfurled the Tricolour amidst recitation of National Anthem by members of the Association. A large number of members of the Association and senior citizens participated in the function.
Trikuta Nagar Welfare Society celebrated Republic Day in its office with great pomp and show under the chairmanship of Rajinder P Kakkar, president of the Society. Manoj Parbhakar, Deputy Controller, Legal Metrology, was the chief guest and Neeraj Puri, Corporator, Ward 54, was the guest of honour.
The Day was celebrated by Welfare Association of Housing Colony, Roop Nagar, Jammu. Bharat Bhushan, ex-MLA of Raipur Domana, unfurled the National Flag while students of Twinkle Playway School and Little Millenium School gave colourful presentation.
The flag hoisting ceremony was also organised by Talab Tillo Shopkeepers’ Association in the Main Bazaar wherein a large no of youth participated. Ankush Abrol, vice-president, Youth National Conference (YNC) unfurled the Tricolour.
On the eve of Republic Day, a function was organized by Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA), Pamposh Colony, Janipur, Jammu to celebrate the occasion. Surinder Sharma, Corporator, Ward No 38, JMC, along with RWA president, BL Garyali unfurled the National Flag.
J&K Christian Association took out a rally under the leadership of its president, Waris Gill, to participate in the Republic Day function at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu, National Conference office. On way back, the rally reached at Residency Road, where the Association organized Flag hoisting ceremony. SM Gill (ex-MLC) and Waris Gill jointly unfurled the Tricolour.
The Day was celebrated by Welfare Society, Guru Nanak Nagar, Jammu at Nanak Nagar. The National Flag was hoisted by members of the Society and National Anthem was sung by all present on the occasion.
All India Migrants Camps Coordination Committee (AIMCCC) organized the Republic Day function at Jagti township. The chief guest on the occasion was Harsh Dev Singh, ex-Education Minister and NPP chairman. He hosted the National Flag and addressed the gathering. On the occasion, AIMCCC gallantry awards were given to five personalities and nine disable students.
The celebrations also held at Swaran Vihar, where the programme was organized by Swarn Vihar Welfare Association. The Tricolour was hoisted by president of the Association, SN Raina. A colourful bonanza of dance and songs was presented by the children.
The Day was celebrated at Ware House Public Park with tremendous enthusiasm and fervour by The Batwals India, a social organization. Hav Des Raj Kaith was the chief guest while famous faces and high profile figures from Batwal Community were present as the guests. Amidst a huge gathering, the National Flag was hoisted by the chief guest.
The programme in connection with Republic Day was organized by All J&K Mahasha Saadar Sabha in the Sabha premises. The National Flag was hoisted by ND Rajwal, ex-Corporator and general secretary of Guru Nabha Dass Ji Maharaj Trust.
Mazdoor Dastkar Union celebrated the occasion at ISBT under the coordinatorship of Hari Om Traders. The National Flag was hoisted on the occasion amidst rendition of National Anthem.
Udhampur Development Council (UDC) organized a grand function to celebrate Republic Day. Anil Paba, president of UDC, hoisted the National Flag. A colourful function was also organized by Dogra Saddar Sabha Udhampur, to celebrate the occasion. Krishan Kumar, Udhampur district president of the Sabha, hoisted the National Flag.
Water Works (PHE) Employees’ Association, Jammu province celebrated the Day at Company Bagh, Dogra Chowk, Jammu. Shiv Kumar Sharma, State president, INTUC, unfurled the Tricolor.
70th Reublic Day was celebrated at Balgran- a charitable home for destitute children, Channi Rama, Jammu with patriotic fervor. MLC Vikram Randhawa hoisted the National Flag and presided over the function, which was attended by distinguished guests, donors, members, ex-inmates of Balgran and children of Bal Bharti Public School.
Youth of Kashmiri Migrants organized a small but impressive function to celebrate the occasion. Guest of honour, Deepak Pathania (SHO, Nagrota) unfurled the National Flag amidst rendition of National Anthem by the youth present on the occasion.
Kashmir Dramatic Club celebrated the occasion by organizing a programme at Om Nagar, Udheywala, under the supervision of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. The Tricolour was hoisted by PN Hakeem, president of the Club.
Republic Day was celebrated by Akhil Bhartiya Dharam Prachar Sewa Samiti, Jammu & Kashmir at Hanuman Dham in R S Pura, Jammu. A large number of people participated in the function, during which Sham Choudhary (ex-MLA), Mahant Narinder Dass Ji Maharaj and Sunil Sharma, chief organizer of the Samiti, hoisted the Tricolor.
To celebrate the occasion, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) organized a cultural programme in collaboration with Sangam Tru Art Production at open air theatre, Durga Bhawan, Janipur, Jammu. The function was inaugurated by Ravi Kumar Mansotra, Director Doordarshan Jammu, as chief guest. He also unfurled the National Flag.
In a special programme held at Bhour Camp (Jammu), Aadarsh Bhartiya Samaj celebrated 70th Republic Day with enthusiasm and gaiety. Ex-Hav Lakhvinder Singh hoisted the National Flag on behalf of Samaj. On the occasion, a colourful cultural programme was presented by a group of children.
Healthy India Stronger India (an NGO) celebrated the Day with lot of enthusiasm and joy. Hira Lal Abrol, chairman of the NGO along with other members hoisted the Tricolour and distributed sweets among the gathering at Bikram Chowk, Jammu. The celebrations came to an end with the National Anthem.
Bharat Vikas Parishad, Gandhi Nagar Branch celebrated the occasion by hoisting the National Flag at Shivaji Chowk, Nanak Nagar, Jammu. Amita Sharma, Prant president, hoisted the National Flag in the presence of a large gathering.
Jammu Development Council, Jammu Province also organized flag hoisting ceremony in connection with Republic Day at Chowk Chabutra. Krishan Lal Abrol, president of the Council, hoisted the Tricolour amidst slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ raised by a large number of people present on the occasion. It was followed by national Anthem.
The celebrations also held at Lower Roop Nagar, where Kranti Dal State president, Pritam Sharma unfurled the National Flag along with Corporator of Ward No 66, Tripta Devi.
