So-called streamlining of ration leads to harassment to migrants: Bakaya

JAMMU, Apr 29,: Apni Party State general secretary, Vijay Bakaya on Friday expressed shock that the so-called process for streamlining of ration distribution to migrant relief holders, set in motion by the Relief Organization, has led to extensive harassment to the ration card holders.
In his statement to the press, Bakaya said that “Their designated depots have been allotted for purposes of getting ration in places which are far from their place of residence.”
Why closer depots have not been allotted defies logic? He questioned while asking the authorities concerned to reconsider the decision for the welfare of the migrant relief holders.
In this scorching heat, he said that “It is a torture for an aging or even any ration card holder to move to unfamiliar depots for no apparent reason.”
“In view of the large-scale confusion, the Relief Commissioner should immediately review his decision and pre-empt displaced people from coming out on roads in protest,” he suggested.
Bakaya said that “he is prepared to believe that what the Relief Commissioner has done was done in good faith, but his remedy is worse than the disease.”
