LEH, Apr 17: A snow leopard sneaked into Taru village, located at a distance of 25 kilometre from Leh this morning and killed a dzo.
As per the dzo owner, he heard about dogs barking in the early morning today. When he came out of his house to check the matter, he found that his dzo was killed by the snow leapard, which was found standing next to the dead body.
Seeing the owner, the snowleapard walked away few meter from the body and stood there for hours before more people started gathering near the site and it run towards the mountain side leaving the body behind.
Later, the people informed the matter to Chief Animal Husbandry Officer in Leh. The dzo owner Tsering Dorjay said that usually snow leopards venture into village during spring time while chasing wildlife animal that come down into village for green pasture and water. However, this time the wild beast is harming and killing domestic animals in the village and number of sheep were harmed by the snowleapard last week.
