JAMMU, July 17: Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation (SNCF) organized a voluntary blood donation camp at Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan, Akhnoor, today.
The camp was inaugurated by Sarita Chouhan, Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, who while speaking on the occasion said that blood donation is a need of time and applauded the efforts of Sant Nirankari Mission. She congratulated all the volunteer donors and assured full co-operation to the Mission for the future events as well.
Other dignitaries present in the camp were Dr Neeti from Blood Bank GMC Jammu, S P Verma, president, Gandhi Global Family, B R Lachotra, general secretary, Study Villa Charitable Trust, Ram Mehta, Chuni Lal Sanchalak and several prominent senior citizens of the town.
Rev Ajit Singh, zonal incharge, Sant Nirankari Mandal said that even though basically the Mission is a spiritual movement, it has been making a significant contribution towards social welfare activities also.
Singh said that while launching the series in 1986, his holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj had said that ‘Blood should flow in veins and not in drains.’ Ever since, lakhs of devotees have been donating their blood every year.
He also mentioned about other social welfare activities of the Mission.
Sansar Chand, Sanyojak, Sant Nirankari Mandal branch Akhnoor, welcomed the chief guest, prominent citizens, hospital authorities and volunteers of the Mission.
The camp was held in collaboration with Blood and Transfusion Department of Government Medical College, Jammu, Indian Red Cross Society and JKSACS.
