Snatching gang busted, 2 arrested, stolen items recovered

JAMMU, Sept 26: Gandhi Nagar police under “Operation Meghdoot” busted snatching gang with the arrest of two persons and recovery of stolen items worth several lakhs.
As per police sources, yesterday a complaint was lodged by Romi Kerni, wife of Samar Kerni, a resident of H No 5, Downside Greater Kailash, with Police Station Gandhi Nagar stating that two unknown persons snatched her bag containing cash, gold rings and other documents from Shivaji Chowk, Nanak Nagar.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 164/17 under Section 382 RPC was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, several suspects were rounded up and strenuous efforts were made to recover the snatched bag.
Two suspects namely Raju Khokar, son of Baljeet of Valmiki Colony Gandhi Nagar and Sahil Bhatti, son of Vijay Bhatti of Narwal Pain, Satwari during questioning revealed that they had snatched the bag.
On further interrogation, they admitted their involvement in four more such type of cases and on their disclosure snatched property including gold ornaments weighing 4 tolas and cash Rs 5800 were recovered from their possession.
Further questioning of the accused is going on.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar DySP (P) Dr Sunniya Ashkoor Wani and assisted by PSI Vicky Thappa, HC Subash Chander, SgCt Mubraz Ahmed, SgCt Ranjeet Singh, SgCt Farooq Ahmed, Constable Narinder Singh and Constable Mohammad Iqbal made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
