KATRA, Mar 30: One day national conference on “ICT Initiation for Economic Development of North-West India”, was organized by the Department of Economics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, here today.
The chief guest for the conference was Dr Surabhi Mittal, who is senior Economist and Coordinator of Centre of Excellence, Tata Cornell Institute (TARINA), Cornell University. She emphasized on the role of ICT in social and economic development of the northwest region in particular and the country in general. She stressed that digitization in every sector is need of the hour as it will also helps in elimination of poverty and inequality in the society.
The welcome address was given by Prof D Mukhopadhyay. Dr Kakali Majumdar talked about the role of ICTs in developmental process. Dr Showkat Ahmed Bhat discussed about the objectives of the conference. Vote of thanks was given by Dr Kirtti Ranjan.
Around 20 papers were presented in the conference.
