RAJOURI, Apr 26: The police today foiled an attempt to smuggle Government supplied ration meant for preparing meals under Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) for Anganwadi Centers in Mehari Gujjaran area of district Rajouri and seized six bags of food stuff besides three edible oil tins.
Official sources said that based upon a specific information, a team of police headed by Incharge Police Post Rajouri city, SI Suresh Sharma under the supervision of DySP Headquarters, Govind Rattan raided a shop in Mehari Gujjaran village in Dassal Gali area of Rajouri. During investigation, Government supplied diet (meal) for Anganwadi centers under ICDS was seized from a shop run by Munir Hussain, son of Nizam Ud Din, a resident of Mehari Gujarran.
The Government supplied commodities meant for Anganwadi Center were seized on the spot which include three bags of grams, one bag of Soyabean chunks (Nutri), one bag of pulses (moong daal), one bag of sugar, two tins of oil, five litres of refined oil, thirteen packets of biscuits, twenty kilograms of rice and one packet of turmeric powder ( Haldi).
All the items seized on the spot contained Government marking prohibiting it for sale in the market. Cognizance of the matter has been taken by Rajouri police and investigation has been started to find out the Anganwadi Centers from where the meal meant for ICDS has been black marketed.
The questioning of the shop owner was going on. Some ICDS officials are likely to be arrested in this connection, the police said.
Meanwhile, the Project Officer, ICDS Rajouri claimed to have ordered an inquiry into the matter. He has directed CDPO, Rajouri to submit report within two days.
