NEW DELHI, Sept 22: Union Minister of Human Resources & Development Smriti Zubin Irani released a Bhajan CD Om sung by Sanjeev Gautam and Purnima Raina at a musical evening “Taarakhmaal’’ organized by Jammu and Kashmir Vichar Manch (JKVM). The bhajans in the CD were written by Bushan Lal Kaul (Deep Ji).
Mrs Irani was the chief guest on the occasion. She distributed prizes among the children who participated in the function. She congratulated JKVM for making all efforts to preserve the Kashmiri culture.
Despite being indisposed the Minster attended the function to encourage the star kids who participated in the programme. She also appealed all present in the programme to continue to encourage their kids to participate in such events.
Maheish Giri MP from East Delhi who was the guest of honour in his speech praised the KP community and recognized its commitment towards the nation. He said the Governments completely ignored the plight of KPs and now it is the responsibility of NDA Government to take all the required steps towards the betterment of the community and its resettlement in Kashmir.
He laid the emphasis on the great tradition of Kashmiri culture and advised the community to preserve it for Nation. He also stressed the need for preserving and protecting the language and asked women folk to take lead in this regard. He also suggested community members to speak Kashmiri in their families.
Both the dignitaries were presented memento of Mata Kheer Bhawani as a token of remembrance from community.
On the occasion Sanjeev Raina and other artists made people spell bound with their melodious Kashmiri songs.
The function started with welcome address of Sanjay Ganjoo, president JKVM which was followed by singing and dance by Gaashtarukh star performers. The renowned poets including O N Bhat Shabnam, Ashok Saraf Ghayal and Bushan Lal Kaul Deep recited their poems.
The function culminated with the vote of thanks by Ajay Bharti organizing secretary JKVM.
