Srinagar, Dec 21: The doctors of Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital, who were seeking security against their frequent targeting by attendants, continued their strike today.
The doctors had called strike after two medicos were thrashed by attendants who were infuriated at a death of an elderly patient during the intervening night of 17 and 18 December. They blamed the doctors on duty for the death, but the medicos said the patient died due to alleged administrative lapses.
The doctors on strike are demanding security and improvement in the healthcare facilities. Though the emergency was restored on Saturday last week after negotiations but the In Patient Department (IPD) and Out Patient Department (OPD) are hit due to strike.
