Space crunch is the main woe of SMGS-the premier hospital in Jammu city. The institution has dismal sanitation arrangement and the worst affected segment is its maternity block where paucity of accommodation and beds force two to three delivering mothers to share one small bed along with their new born ones. Blood stained and filthy sheets are not changed regularly, litter is not collected regularly, toilets are stinking. The Health Minister should have taken the trouble of visiting the hospital at least once during his tenure as a minister and see the condition of the maternity ward, the delivering mothers, the new born ones and the Neonatal ICUs.
After seeing this deplorable condition of the maternity ward of the hospital, the question arises where our planners and administers are who make boastful claims of having improved health care services in the State? The lack of accountability has wrecked havoc on health care institution of the State.
