JAMMU, Dec 10: Two-day Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025 – Software Edition, successfully concluded at IIT Jammu, one of the 60 nodal centres hosting the Grand Finale across the country.
As a nodal centre, IIT Jammu hosted 20 teams from across India which worked on four problem statements provided by the National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO). Over two days, student innovators developed and demonstrated high-impact software prototypes aimed at addressing critical national challenges.
Dr Sukanta Majumdar, Union Minister of State for Education & Development of the North Eastern Region, interacted live with finalists from selected nodal centres, including IIT Jammu.
The valedictory session of the Grand Finale was graced by Avny Lavasa, Secretary, Department of Transport, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, who served as the chief guest. Addressing the participants, she highlighted the importance of innovation-driven platforms like SIH, stating that such events push young minds to question assumptions, think out of the box, take risks, and imagine solutions that others may not even consider possible. She emphasized that fostering an innovation ecosystem is crucial for national progress.
Speaking at the valedictory, Prof Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu, noted that events like SIH enrich everyone involved—students, mentors, and faculty alike. He encouraged participants who did not win to carry forward the knowledge and opportunities gained during the hackathon.
The concluding remarks were delivered by Dr Vijay Kumar Pal, SPOC and Assistant Professor, IIT Jammu.
The Grand Finale concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where four teams were declared winners for the NTRO problem statements hosted at IIT Jammu. Each winning team received a cash prize of INR 1.5 lakh.
