JAMMU:The smallest batch of 769 pilgrims today left for Amarnath Cave Shrine from Bhagwati Nagar’s Yatri Niwas base camp here.
“A batch of 769 pilgrims comprising 575 males, 137 females, seven children, 45 sadhus, four sadhvis left for the cave shrine in a fleet of 24 vehicles,” a police spokesperson said.
He said the vehicles included 16 state transport corporation buses and eight light motor vehicles.
The first bus left at 0455 hrs while the last bus left at 0500 hrs amid tight security arrangements. The yatra is heading towards the Kashmir valley. (AGENCIES)
