SL to give five-year visa to woo investors

Colombo, July 2: Sri Lanka will provide five-year residence visa to foreign investors so that they don’t struggle for visas each time they plan to visit the island nation.
In an effort to step up the game in luring in foreign direct investments, Sri Lanka’s investment promotion agency, the Board of Investment, on Friday launched visa programme dedicated to investors, the Daily Mirror reported on Saturday.
The initiative was launched by the newly-appointed Investment Promotion Minister Dhammika Perera.
“Before this programme, they (investors) had to go through a long documentation process every year to get these visas,” the Minister said.
The visa application process is accessible online.
At the launch event, 10 investors received the five-year resident visa. They included Lanka Indian Oil Corp PLC Managing Director Manoj Gupta.
