SKY distributes free smart phones among underprivileged students

JAMMU, Feb 4: Swarak Kendra for Yoga (SKY) today distributed free smart phones to underprivileged students of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Purmandal in district Samba and Government Girls High School, Sohanjana in Jammu district.
This was the third phase of their initiative which was started few months back to help underprivileged school going children who were not able to study on e-platforms because of non availability of any smart phone device with them and their study and career was at stake because of COVID.
The distribution of the free smart phones will give the recipients an edge to be at par with normal middle class children in studying at home during the odd times and they can really shine in studies by using the technology wisely. All smart phones given were brand new.
The priority was given to brilliant students of different streams who scored good rank last year. The smart phones were donated by Gagan Gouri, Jitender Kour, Pursahottam Dubey, Ankush Goel and few other pious souls while SKY donated four smart phones from their own resources.
Founder SKY – Anil Swaraj said, “Headmaster Rita Angral of Government Girls High School Sohanjana, Mandal and Principal Government Girls Higher Secondary School Vijay Sharma played an instrumental role in identifying the brilliant students of their respective schools with poor economic background to make this distribution happen for needy hands.
For this noble cause, Anil Swaraj made an appeal also to the society to donate smart phones to help underprivileged school going students, especially of schools serving lower strata of our society. He said to donate a smart phone, one can contact at 94192- 22222 for distribution in next phase.
