SKUAST-TAJ urges Governor to enhance retirement age

JAMMU, July 16: SKUAST- Teaching Association Jammu (SKUAST-TAJ) has appealed to the Governor of J&K for increase in the retirement age of varsity faculty members / scientists from 62 to 65 years.
While chairing a meeting of office bearers, president SKUAST-TAJ Dr Vikas Sharma said that G B Pant University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, Pantnagar and Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, have taken the lead in this regard and fixed the age of superannuation as 65 in the year 2013 thereby retaining the excellent human resource.
Further, he added, Central University of Kashmir and Central University of Jammu have 65 yrs age of superannuation for their teachers while in the recent Council Meet, SMVDU had also increased the superannuation age to 65 and the agenda item regarding enhancement in superannuation age of teachers has already been approved long back in the Council Meet of Jammu University and Kashmir University.
Dr Vivek M. Arya, General Secretary of the Association, also appealed the Governor to consider this genuine demand for excellent teaching, research and extension output in the university.
