SAMBA, Aug 5: In a series of visits to ascertain the problems of outstation scientific staff, the office bearers of SKUAST Teaching Association Jammu, under the leadership of Dr. Vikas Sharma, visited Advance Centre for Rainfed Agriculture, Rakh Dhiansar and Pulse Research Station, Samba.
During the visit, scientists apprised the association about certain steps taken by them for the betterment of Advance Centres and further hoped that authorities will strengthen these Centres by providing each and every basic amenity so that the scientists can perform well and meet the expectations of the farming community.
Dr B S Jamwal, Chief Scientist and I/c Samba Station, informed the association regarding the acute shortage of non teaching staff at Stations. Dr Anil Sharma, Associate Director and I/c Dhiansar Advance Centre apprised the SKUAST-TAJ about the problems being faced by scientific staff such as timely release of salary/arrears, allotment of PG students to outstation scientists and inclusion of scientists of nearby stations in teaching.
During the interaction meeting, the house impressed for the provision of additional funds from varsity for strengthening of watch and ward facility. Besides highlighting the requirement of accounts assistant, the scientists also demanded hotline and internet/wifi facility for the smooth functioning of Advance Centres.
The president-TAJ, Dr Vikas Sharma assured the scientists that their issues will be taken on priority basis with the University authorities for immediate redressal.
The meeting was attended by Dr Vivek M Arya, Dr P K Rai, Dr Amitesh Sharma, Dr Brijnandan Mankotia, Dr Vikas Abrol, Dr Reena Sinha, Dr Sonika Jamwal, Dr Brinder Singh, Dr Permender Singh, Dr AC Jha, Dr Sanjeev Kumar, Dr A P Singh and Dr Hemant Dadhich.
