JAMMU, Dec 13: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Jammu in collaboration with J&K Council for Science and Technology, Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi and National Horticulture Board, New Delhi is going to host 2nd J&K Agricultural Sciences Congress from December 15 to 17 at its Chatha Campus.
Focal theme of the Congress is “Sustainable Hill Agriculture for Food and Livelihood Security Technological Innovations, Opportunities and Challenges”.
The Congress will primarily focus on constraints faced in harnessing the livelihood opportunities of rural masses in the State and will also discuss to harness the livelihood opportunities without harming ecology and see options and potential solutions for transition to develop the mechanism for overall agrarian development of the State.
GH Mir, Minister for Agriculture, will inaugurate the Congress.
During three days Science Congress, technical sessions, poster sessions, exhibition of agro-technologies, young scientist award, policy makers, stakeholders and farmer’s meet, will be organised.
About 400 scientists, scholars, students and farmers are expected to attend the three days event to deliberate on wide gamut of issues.
On the occasion Sher-e-Kashmir Memorial Lecture will also be delivered by Dr Swapan Kumar Dutta, Deputy Director General ICAR, New Delhi.
The other prominent speakers will be Prof SK Sharma, Vice Chancellor, CCS, Agricultural University Palampur (HP), Dr JS Sandhu, ADG (Seeds), ICAR, Dr AK Shrivastva, Director National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, SS Malik from NBPGR, HU Khan, Former Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-J, Dr MS Gill, Director Extension, PAU, Ludhiana, Dr SS Randhawa, Director Research, GADVASU, Ludhiana, Prof AK Koul, BGSBU, Rajouri, Dr B Gangwar, Project Director, FRS, Modipuram, besides many others.
