SKUAST-J organizes workshop on Start-up Ideas

JAMMU, Feb 17: National Agriculture Health Project (NAHEP-IDP), SKUAST-Jammu organized one day workshop on Start – up Ideas.
Prof Rakesh Nanda, Director Education SKUAST -Jammu was chief guest and Prof Jyoti Kachroo, Director P&M, Head AEABM and PI RKVY-RAFTAAR was guest of honour on the occasion.
Prof Rakesh Nanda, in his address, said that special attention needs to be given to the fact that start-up ideas should be technically feasible as well as economically viable. Motivating UG and PG students to become agri-entrepreneurs, Prof Nanda shared his experiences and listed natural farming, organic farming, local products and hand holding of start-ups as key action points. He expressed satisfaction that NAHEDP-IDP, SKUAST-J is taking the right steps in this direction.
Prof Jyoti Kachroo delivered expert lecture on innovation and startup ideas. She also briefed about all the major activities and progress achieved in the recent past by Agri-Business Incubator, SKUAST-J under the RKVY-RAFTAAR project. She motivated the students to pitch their ideas for receiving grant-in-aid under RKVY-RAFTAAR project.
Earlier, Prof B C Sharma, Dean, FoA and Coordinator, NAHEP-IDP gave an overview of the NAHEP-IDP project.
Dr Anil Bhat, Assistant Prof AEABM and Organizing Secretary of the workshop, gave an overview of the workshop. Students from faculty of Agriculture & Veterinary Science presented their innovative concepts and business plans before the selection committee. The experts evaluated the start-up ideas of the students and appreciated their efforts.
Dr S K Gupta, Registrar, SKUAST-Jammu, Dr R K Salgotra, Associate Coordinator, NAHEP-IDP, Dr Vikas Sharma, Associate Coordinator, NAHEP-IDP, Dr Rakesh, Sharma, Professor, Agril. Extension, Dr Sanku Borkataki, Associate Professor, Division of Veterinary Parasitology, Dr Ankur Rastogi, Professor, Animal Nutrition were also present on the occasion.
The workshop was attended by more than 50 students. Ajay Thakur, YP, NAHEP-IDP managed the event. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr Vivak M Arya, Associate Professor, Soil Science & formal vote of thanks was given by Prof Vikas Sharma. Head, Soil Science and Associate Coordinator, NAHEP-IDP.
